Pat started his career as a software engineer developing telephone switching system software at Bell Laboratories. While there he became an inventor, earning two patents in GSM wireless technology. As a respected lead engineer, he was urged to create  a class on emerging software development methodologies. Pat  authored a course titled “Object Oriented Analysis and Design”. He trained  1000’s of engineers in the USA, Spain, UK and the Netherlands.  While teaching this class he honed the craft of the Socratic  method,  asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking and draw out ideas and underlying presumptions.  Due to it’s success, he was promoted to technical manager and built a training organization for new engineers. He also founded a technology transfer organization to address organizational quality, efficiency and productivity issues at Bell Labs/Lucent.

Pat entered the start-up arena to design and staff a sales engineering organization for a breakthrough Voice Over IP server app.  Sadly the product failed and failed big. There were extensive and difficult layoffs. Soon he was out of out of a  job. The challenge of a startup is multitudinal and he often speaks at length on this topic.

Attending a trade-show in search of a future, Pat stumbled upon a founder with the first whispers of a SaaS student information management system. The company had no staff. Nor did it have any infrastructure. Yet he found the freedom liberating. Tutoring himself on sales, he  experienced a few wins and many losses. But success was achieved despite stiff competition. Pat became Vice President of Sales and built a sales organization from scratch that generated 8 figure revenues.   This included  inside and outside sales, sales engineers, telemarketers, marketers and business development.

Forever in love with radio,  Pat created the Sales Babble brand and launched the  Sales Babble Podcast in March of 2014. Sales Babble was created to stop the  babble that sales is bad.  Each week sales professionals, sales managers, business owners and marketers tune into the Sales Babble. Each episode is an opportunity for listeners to invest in their profession and achieve success.
